The San Juan songstress explains why the city is so magical to her.

Calma reveals the best place to discover talent on the island, and why authenticity is key.

What about the city inspires you and your music?

When I’m in nature, in solitude, is where I’m most inspired. A few of my favorite things about San Juan are the ocean, the Caribbean sunsets, the moon’s reflection on the beach— but I could just go on. The streets of Old San Juan are full of history and mystery, just knowing that pirates used to roam around seems otherworldly. I’m also inspired by all the constant art and music that comes out of such a small but magical place.

La Respuesta is a staple in discovering and nurturing the best alternative talent in the island. Centro de Bella Artes Luis A. Ferré is the most prestigious venue for the performing arts. The Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot is the biggest indoor arena in the island.

How did you get started making music?

It’s a passion I've always had since I was a little girl. It was just a matter of following my intuition and time.

What drew you to the particular kind of music you create?

I take inspiration from my multicultural upbringing, making sense of all those influences and remaining authentic. I feel remaining authentic is key to creating a connection.
